Day one of dove hunting

I didn't make it out opening day, but was able to head to the windmill pond in my pasture last night for a chance at bringing in some dove meat for the winter.

Using a 5 gallon bucket for a chair, I settled into my favorite spot by the wind break/shed and waited.

I started out pretty bad... three birds for six shells. Then I quit counting.

I did so much better last year. lol

The darned moon distracted me again.....

and the sunset........

After obtaining my limit of dove, it was time to kick back with a cold drink .......

The sunset and moon rise were so nice. :)

I really enjoyed the evening. :)

Thank you Chris! It was so pretty in person. I'm glad the outline of the windmill came out in the photo. It was pretty dark out. :)

Thank you Mark! If I can keep my heat on, I bet I make it through another winter. :) I'm kind of looking forward to making a few snow angels and ice cream too. lol

Ok you people are just starting to depress me with all this talk of winter. Fall is my favorite time and we are just getting started at a few cool nights.

Heck give me a chance to have a few bonefires and try some more of Cowgirl's famous recipies.

I havn't cut down one tree or split one single piece of firewood yet. Give me time, more time, precious time. Oh how quick it passes.

ps Looks like a mighty fine haul of birds there. Great job
