Breakfast Burritos over the fire

I know... another campfire cook. Good thing I only camped out for a week. Can you imagine a month's worth of campfire cooking pics? :)

I started my sausage links with a bit of butter. Fried some cubed potatoes with onions...

When the potatoes and onions have browned, I scoot them over and scramble my eggs....

Then I toss them together and add seasonings.....

Heated a few tortillas over the fire....

I added cheese to mine, and some of my homemade salsa...

Sometimes I brown sausage in with the eggs and potatoes but this time I just cooked some links on the side.
It's an easy campfire breakfast. :)

You are too funny! I had a comment about jerky in my first post but erased it. Scarrrry!

That kind of beats a McDonald's breakfast burrito now doesn't it?

Only by a thousand light years or two;)

you sure you weren't a chuckwagon cook on the ol' trail drives in a previous life? makes me think of wishbone on the old rawhide tv show. gotta love sausage fried in butter, in black iron, over a campfire.

There's nothing wrong with some campfire cooking Jeanie, especially when things are so tastey looking. I can see that if it were meat on a stick everytime, then ya, we might get a little tired of that. lol. Campfire cook on Jeanie. The breakfast burritos look marvelous.

lol That is scarry Mr D! For some reason I always picture you with jerky in your hand. Or King crab legs! lol

Thank you Chris! YOu know what? I've never had a burrito at McDonalds! I must lead a sheltered life. lol

lol Chez... I had to google Wishbone! Hope I do not look like him but I bet he was a good cook to keep all of those cowboys happy. lol
Thank you Chez!!

Mark, you have a good point! Meat on a stick would get pretty old, and I wouldn't want to eat it for every meal. lol
Hope your hay hauling is going well!
Thanks Mark. :)

So, Cowgirl, have you considered writing a campfire/smokehouse cookbook? You have enough recipes. We'd buy a few copies from the first printing!

cowgirl said...

Mrs JP that is kind of you to say. :)
I have heard from others that suggested I do a cookbook. I'm just not sure if I could or where to start.
Thanks for the thought! :)

Ok I'm behind the curve and just catching up after a couple of days away. Mrs. JP has a great idea there and I happen to have a web site for you to check out. www.lulu.com is an excellent site for doing your own books and very inexpensive. I did a soft cover book with about 70 pages for less than $10 and it came out great.

As for getting started, well its kinda like that old Christmas cartoon where the wizard says he doesn't know how to walk, just put one foot in front of the other.

Heck if you pull up your photos and blog entries it would probably be half written anyways.

So, in between your windmill repairs, horse roping, cattle ranching and fence mending how about whipping us a little cookbook in your spare time.

Love your blog girl, continue to hold on to all that is precious.

Wayne, thank you!
I will check out the link. I have a lot more recipes than what I have posted here. Maybe I could put something together.
lol Of course then I'd have to figure out a way to sell them! lol

Thanks for your vote of confidence Wayne. :)
