Here are a few things I gathered in my backyard last night...
The okra are still producing......
Getting lots of green beans ....
They are blooming nicely too!
Still picking squash, peppers, tomatoes (not pictured), green beans, okra and cucs.
The hens are giving me around 2 dozen eggs each day.
I had to take a moment to watch the sunset from my garden. It was really pretty last night. :)

Good!..... you'll have plenty of eggs to tan this years deer hide! You can make yourself some "real" moccasins!!

They can be frozen if the yolk is broken.
I trade eggs for fresh milk from a small dairy about 5 miles away and I keep some other neighbors supplied with all the eggs they want...they feed animals and take care of my place when I leave.
Also make lots of egg noodles with yolks and angel food cake with the whites.
They seem to get used up. lol
Nice ocra. I grew a full row of ocra myself this year and now have sacks of the stuff. Pickling sounds like what I need to do with them. I was also planning on butchering a steer and smoking some of it. I see you have built a smoker. How is your smoker design working out? I would like to build one this Fall and use it to smoke both catfish and beef. You have a great blog site and I have looked at your smoker construction photos. My chickens have just begun laying. I've got 24, so more eggs than I can eat. I like your idea about sharing with the neighbors in return for checking on my place while I'm away. Have you ever raised meat chickens?

Sounds like you have a lot of okra! I've been slicing mine and rolling it in cornmeal, then bagging and freezing. I can batter and fry it when needed.
I'll look up my pickled okra recipe and e-mail it to you.
I really like my smokehouse. It works great for smoking my bacons and hams and other things.
I cold smoke in it but do my hot smoking in other smokers.
That's great that you are raising beef too. It tastes so much better than store bought.
I'm raising black angus, pork and chickens for meat, then I hunt too.

Greg, I do raise meat chickens too!
Sometimes I just let my hens hatch out what they lay.... and sometimes I purchase the meat chicks from a hatchery.
I need to send my egg noodle recipe to you too. lol Sounds like you could use it. :)

You're garden is producing wonderfully. Mine has pretty much had it up here in the north country. Our four seasons are spring, fall, winter and winter :)

I imagine winter is right around the corner for you folks up north. I'm not sure how you handle two seasons of winter...you must be a lot tougher than me! :)
That's alot of nice looking goodies coming off your own little chunk of ground Jeanie. I have a fair bit of green tomatoes, but that don't even compare. Nice sunset.
