A long walk

Went for a long walk last week.... to one of my favorite places.

I walked along a deer trail for awhile....

until I came to a major cattle trail....

followed the cattle trail through the brush and trees.....

until I came to the sandy creek bed....

not much water but it felt nice and cool..

I had hoped to chase a few minnows but there were none in sight. :)

saw some whitetail buck tracks.. (you can see the dew claws)

the whitetail doe tracks were pretty thick in the area.

so were the turkey tracks...

and the coyotes...

one of my soggy sneaker tracks ( I had to play in the water with my tennies on. :))

and a hereford cow track..... from about a 3 yr old hereford, ready to calve in about 2 weeks...

there are so many deer trails to explore...

I brought my lunch, a leftover blueberry pancake from breakfast and a cool sip of water...

enjoyed the meal while sitting on a log.

things are greening up...

saw a few baby sand hill plums. :)

and the wild grapes have a good start.

heading back to the pickup..

took a break on the tailgate...

aak... I was wind blown, dirty and tired from the day-long hike, but it wasn't anything a nice bubble bath and a glass of wine wouldn't cure. (I'm washable :))

I felt filthy, happy and recharged.

In case you wondered how I knew so much about the cow by the track she left...
I saw her walk by. :)

Looks like beautiful country side down there, the ice is just coming off the river where I am in northern Manitoba. Not much but wolf, bear, and Moose tracks up here...

Thank you Canadian Smoker! :)
I bet your area is absolutely beautiful! I've been to the southern half of Manitoba and really liked it...but haven't made it up your way.
Maybe someday! :)

I don't know, it sounded to me like you had a really nice day Jeanie. I'm really going to have to try that sometime. Thanks for taking us on your journey. How's the rain situation, did you ever find some? We've been getting alot of showers off and on. Most the snow is gone, but I still see a little in some of the shady spots.

Thanks Mark! I'm sure your area is really beautiful too. I'd be afraid of your bears though. :)
The rain situation is still bad here. I'd sure take a drop or two if you have any to spare.
Hope you are doing well. I'm sure you are busy between your paying job and your house. You place is looking great Mark, you do nice work!
Thanks again...

Really nice pictorial. Wish I had the get up and go to do something like that. Hope you were packing a little something in case you met Mr. or Mrs. No Shoulders along the trail. Or perhaps one of the Savage Skull motorcyle gang members from OK City who are looking for a quiet place to garden?

That is some mighty fine looking countryside. It has been a while for me but I can still smell the brush. I especially love the smell in the early morning. Hard to beat.

Cowgirl, you know country living is hard to beat. You are fortunate to be living where you do. It's beautiful there.

Thanks Ralphy! I enjoy my time out there. :)
I have found a few big cat tracks there in the past and last fall one killed a few calves.. so I do carry something with me just in case.

Rueben thank you! I love the smell of the brush too. The air is so sweet right now with wild flowers. It's almost intoxicating! :)
Thanks again...

Thanks for taking us along on your walk, beautiful and peaceful. I was going to ask but I see by your response that you were carrying something for protection just in case. Hope you get some wet stuff soon.
