It's that time of the year....the night air is cooling down. Snakes come out in the evening to warm themselves on the sun heated gravel of my road.
It's also time for them to look for a way into some of my outbuildings to escape the cool air.
Time for tall boots and a watchful eye. lol
This fellow was not happy to see me.

Great Pictures! Did he startle you, or did you see him from a distance?
Was hunting dove in S. Tex last weekend (poor, nothing but long shots (and longer walks)) but your pictures remind me that I did not see one snake of any kind this year while in the field... but my huntin bud did see a large Coral.

Thanks rdp :)
I saw him from a distance. He's the third one I've come across in the last few days. This time I happened to have my camera handy. :)
He didn't like me interrupting his sun bath and gave me a nice warning.
I'm glad there are no coral snakes up here for me to contend with too. lol
Interesting that you didn't see any snakes while out. I guess that is a good thing! :)
Sorry to hear the dove hunting didn't pan out. Better luck to you next time. :)
Yikes! We have small garter snakes all around our yard throughout the year, but after seeing this, I think I'll NEVER complain about them anymore :-)
LOL Hi Becky, good to see ya!!
I am used to the rattlesnakes, but still hate it when I find one in my chicken coop or in an outbuilding. :)
That's one thing I love about winter ...it's usually too cold for the rattlers to be out and about, I can relax a bit. lol
