I gathered a few wild onions, some morels and venison backstrap steaks for supper last night...
The venison steaks were from the little buck I got this season.
cleaned wild onions...
the morels...
I used some of the smoked garlic that friend Phubar sent to me from the Netherlands.
Sauteed some of the garlic and wild onions in butter....
added the morels....
Then my venison steaks. ....Which were marinated in Andreas steak marinade that I received from cooking friend Ashmont.
The morels and wild onions in garlic butter....
The venison steak, sauteed morels and wild onions...
It was really tasty. :)

Wow, that looks great! I'd love to have access to morels.
Thanks Capt. Ron!
They were pretty tasty.... Bet they would go great with one of those coctails you've been enjoying from your porch. :)
You're amazing - creative and one of few who could survive if the grocery stores closed.
Larry, Thank you!
If the grocery stores were to close, you and family would be welcome at my table. :)
Oh man ... you have MORELS!! I'm so jealous I cain't hardly stand it. I'm going out again this weekend ~ hope I find some this time.
one more meal fit for a king, or in your case a Queen!
Excellent feast Jeanie. Those morels look very interesting. I remember you finding them last spring also. Having wild onions near by would be kinda handy also.
I don't know, J. The last time I picked and ate wild mushrooms it was a pretty strange trip (ha ha).
Great looking meal and I love your foraging. My foraging is limited to the aisles of a store and excursions in our tiny garden.
Chez, I found more today. I think season is almost over here though. I feel lucky to find any at all.
Good luck with your hunting. :)
:) Rocco, thank you! It was really tasty. One of my favorite meals. :)
Mark thanks! It really is handy having wild onions close by.. and the lambsquarter will be coming up soon.
I like being able to find meals close by. lol
I imagine you have morels in your area. They are pretty tasty mushrooms. :)
I found a few more morels this year than last.
Must be lucky. :)
Thanks Mark!
lol Chris!
Thanks. :)
Your foraging must be working, the meals you put out are outstanding!
Yummy looking as always.
Thank you TJ! It was kinda tasty. :)
I don't ever remember seeing a morel around here or anywhere else for that matter Jeanie. I am going to keep my eyes open for them though. The first one I ever see I will think of you. I don't think I have even seen them in the stores, but I am going to pay a little more attention now.
Mark, let me know if you find any. I'm not sure if they grow in your part if Canada, but they do grow in Canada.
Good luck! :)
Oh,gosh, I am SO jealous of your morels. They grow here (NW Montana) but in my part of the state, anyway, only the first year after a forest fire, and even then it's hit or miss. I love those thing, and your meal looks fabulous!
Thanks Robin! They are so tasty. I hope you have good luck finding them this year. Thanks for stopping by! :)
Hi Robin -- we had venison last night, too. I love it! With green onions from our own garden, but no morels, sadly... don't know as I've seen 'em around here - maybe I just haven't looked in the right places!
Hi Vickie! Venison is one of my favorites too. :)
Hope you get to try morels sometime. They are so tasty!
Thanks for stopping by!
