Snow

The winter storm arrived yesterday. I was one of the lucky Okies that got more snow than ice. :)

The wind whipping the snow around, made some pretty good drifts.

My buddy....

More snow today.

The only traffic is a tumble weed rolling down the road...

My new parking spot...

If you look really close.... there is a dot....on the right side of the road, close to the top of the hill. That's my pickup.

I went in the ditch first thing this morning. At least I was close enough to walk home. :)

With the help of a neighbor and two ranchers who happened by, it didn't take long to pull my pickup out of the ditch.
This is the only picture of the fun... I was just too cold to care about pictures.

After pulling the pickup out of the ditch and catching up on news, we all decided the snowfall amount was about 1 foot.

Can't wait for tomorrow, it's time to make some killer snow angels and maybe a batch of icecream. :)

That looks like quite a storm Jeanie. Complete with tumbling tumble weeds and all. I've never seen those things, except for in the movies. Nice parking spot for the pickup too. I can see that it is pretty cold your way Jeanie, I sure hope the space heater is keeping up to things.

so what comes to my mind is "why the hell would you go out driving in that storm" and you must have some big ass ditchs down there.....
no 4x4 drive on your pickup????

Glad that you're ok as is your truck. That picture and seeing how far it is in the distance made me start humming that old Supertramp song "Take The Long Way Home".

Mark, I need to send a tumble weed to you along with that armadillo that I'm going to catch someday... and a tarantula. :)

It's kind of cold but I'm doing fine. I did plug in an extra heater last night. Can't wait til this gas well situation is fixed. :)
Hope you are keeping warm!

:) Rocco, It was a 4x4... both of my pickups are 4x4's. I hit a good drift while going too fast...threw me into the ditch and I got buried. It's pretty slick under the snow.
They hooked up 2 chains to pull me out so their 4x4 wouldn't slide off into the ditch too.
I was heading to the pasture gate to check on the cattle. That was the safest route. lol

lol Chris, I'm going to remember that next time I'm hiking home.
Thanks! :)

looks like you got quite a storm, the ground is bare in most places here in north eastern NY.
glad you and your truck are ok.

Hey glad it was more snow than ice. What did you do get to close to the side of the road and then it was all over or was t a bit deeper snow that through you off right there? Anyhow. I went into the now 2 times this winter -- never done it once before. What can I say -- thank GOD for John Deere tractors. The last time, a month ago helped me decide it was time for a new set of tires. Cold, tired and a good story is bad enough. Thankfully at least ya didn't get hurt.

Jeanie, only you can make a snow storm and no heat seem like a walk in the park. It is beautiful, glad to hear you got the truck back out of the ditch. Hope you and the stock make it through this ok.

Thank you EM!
Hope all is well in NY, glad to hear you aren't buried in snow. :)

David, I hit a good drift. The danged ditch had enough snow to bury my pickup. lol
I agree.. tractors are great! :)
Glad you weren't hurt too David,
Thanks!

lol TJ, Thanks. :) I know things could be worse.
Had no water this morning but it was just a frozen line in my well house. That was an easy fix. I usually have a heater running in there to keep things thawed but with no heat I was using a heat lamp instead... guess it got pretty cold last night.

Hope you are keeping safe and warm!
Thanks again TJ. :)
