Pork Sateh

A talented smoking friend, Mike, from the Netherlands was kind enough to share his Grandmother's recipe for Sateh Babi with me.
The recipe has been in his family for over 100 years and came from Indonesia to the Netherlands with his family.
I feel honored that Mike shared the recipe with me....
Thank you Mike!

Some of the ingredients for the marinade....

sauteed onion and garlic...

the marinade.....

the pork soaking up the tasty marinade....

I used my little charcoal grill.....

Served with a spicy peanut dipping sauce.....

These were so good!! I didn't need the sauce, the pork sateh was wonderful on it's own.

I can't wait to try this with chicken, shrimp or ?

Thank you again Mike! I loved it. :)

Kirby, it's palmsugar. I wanted to find some in liquid form but this is all I could come up with. It worked out well though. :)

Ooooo, that looks fantastic! Honestly, anything that uses garlic, ginger, and soy is a winner in my book. We made something similar to this with chicken when we would go camping last summer.

I have a bit of ginger here in the kitchen... hrmm....

I'm going to cook this up. I'm sure the kids would love it.

Thanks Mark! I guess it would still be considered meat on a stick but it's fancy meat on a stick. lol

Thank you Sara! I'm with ya...anything with garlic, ginger and soy has to be tasty! :)

Great dish but I also loved your plates. And your little grill, where'd you get that awesome lil' thing?

Thank you Chris! The little grill was made by a friend. He thought I could use it while camping. It's a bit heavy for me so I usually use my tractor rim instead.
I do like the little grill though. It's great for small cooks. :)

Why don't you give the whole recipe, listing the ingredients.... That would make sense to any chef/cook. Thanks

Can you leave the whole recipe with ingredients here? That would make a lot of sense for the chef/cook.
Thanks

Please give the whole recipe, ingredients listed and cooking times.
Thanks

Hi Dutchess,
The recipe has been in Mike's family for over 100 years.
While he was kind enough to share it with me, I feel it is his place to post the recipe on the internet if he chooses to do so.
Thanks

As always Jeanie, this one looks mouth watering. If Mike ever does post this recipie, I'm sure we'd all be interested in the link. But I won't blame him if he doesn't. Some secrets are worth keeping. Heck I'd be happy to just be invited next time you make this. (or anything you cook for that matter) You really have a gift girl!

Your Friend,
Dave~
