Hickory Smoked Meatballs

I smoked a nice big hunka pork the other day and couldn't stand letting all that smoke go to waste. There was enough room in my drum to add something...... I opted for meatballs. :)

I made my favorite meatball/meatloaf recipe using..
ground beef
one egg
worcestershire sauce
ketsup
water
minced dried onions
beef bouillon
seasoned salt
onion powder
and bread crumbs

I sprinkled the meatballs with cracked black pepper....

Into the drum smoker with my big hunka pork and some hickory....

The meatballs took about one hour....

I had to taste a couple of them fresh from the smoker....

They were soooo tasty on top of my spaghetti!

They even had a nice smoke ring...

I'll be making these again soon. :)

You're a woman after my own heart - you like just a little pasta with your meatballs.

Thank you Carolyn! It's good to see you! I need to stop by the bradley forum to see what all is going on. :)
Hope all is well with you! :)

Now that just gives me a real good idea what to do with that pound of hamburger that has been slowly thawing out in my natural deep freeze lately. Maybe even tomorrow. I guess they wont be smoked, but I can always pretend I guess. Your meatballs do look pretty tantalizing Jeanie.

Hey Mark, that might be a good way to use up the thawing meat. :)

I know you have a million things going on but when things slow down you need to make a drum smoker. They are so easy to make and to use... just put your food in and come back later to get it out. lol

Hope all is going well with you!

Thanks. :)

That sounds like my kind of cookin Jeanie. A drum smoker is definately on the agenda for sometime in the future. But like ya say, it might be a little while yet.

If you didn't live so far away, I'd build ya one. lol

Just great....now I'll be singing "On top old Smokey, all covered with cheese, I lost my poor meatball, when somebody sneezed" all afternoon:)

Those look really good. I tried meatballs and spaghetti this summer but didn't really care for how strong the ground meat took on the smoke. Alexis and the boys loved them, but something didn't work for me.

Your pork doesn't look too shabby either!

lol Chris, now I've got that song running around in my head.

The meatballs do take on a lot of smoke. I enjoyed snacking on them with a cold beer though.

Thanks Chris! :)
