Good friends Marty and Tanya have developed a great tasting dry rub and sent a sample for me to try. (Thanks again Marty and Tanya!)
Since "tatonka" is a Native American word for buffalo, it just seemed natural to give it a go on some buffalo burgers.
I picked up a package of buffalo burger at the local grocery store..
wrapped the burgers in bacon, sprinkled with Tatonka Dust...and placed on the top rack of the Hasty Bake to catch some smoke before grilling...
I also set a skillet of fries on the heat to brown...
After about 25 minutes I lowered the burgers down on the heat to sear...
Topped the tatoes with bacon, bacon drippings, minced onions, garlic and cheese...
Back on the heat to melt the cheese...
I've never been a huge fan of fries but these "loaded" fries are pretty tasty. :)
I loved the Tatonka Dust... It was so good! I'm not sure what Marty and Tanya had in mind to use this on, but I put it in a shaker and took it camping with me. :)
I've used it on several things. Potatoes, quail, chicken...
I think is makes a good every day seasoning for anything. lol
Thanks again Marty and Tanya! Please let me know when you get this on the market!

Great Burgers!
I have seen French Fries like this, and they look so tasty. Also the rub sounds interesting.
LG Rolf
Now that looks like it goes beyond Tatonka! Looks as if Wanka Tanka has blessed Marty and Tanya's venture and your endeavour. Gonna have to ask you to pass my email on to Marty and Tanya so I can order some.
Hey cowgirl key word there was camping. Hope you enjoy the summer.
Hey cowgirl, that sounds dynomite! I noticed that the bacon just seemed to melt into the burger. yummy town.
Hi Rolf! Thank you! :)
It's nice to see you. Hope you are having a nice day. Wish I could make it over for some pig snoots. :)
Thanks Marc! I will definately tell them. I like the Dust, it's hard to discribe, not like most bbq rub. This one is better. :)
Hope you have a great week!
Hey Buddy! How have you been? Hope you're finding time to go to the lake house. Thanks! :)
Thank you Mrs JP! The bacon does seem to blend in nicely. Buffalo can be a bit lean, I like the bacon for moisture.
Hope all is going well with you. I need to stop by and see what you're up to! Thanks again. :)
Great way to do the fries!
Why does the rub turn dark as noted on the label, does it have a lot of sugar or is it something else?
I've had no luck commenting on your blog Cowgirl. Don't know what I'm doing wrong!
Jeanie, I'd do a ton of chores around you place for a skillet full of those fries. Fries are a weakness of mine...
I like a good buffalo burger as well. It all looks mighty fine...
Thanks Chris! It's not sugar... I don't think. The mix is not sweet. I really have no idea what makes it dark.
I talked to Marty today and he said they are in the process of getting it packaged for marketing.
He also said folks have been using it on popcorn and other dishes.
It's good stuff! :)
Peggy I'm really sorry!! I have heck with posting comments too. Since I changed the comment from anonymous to everyone needing an account, it seems to be a pain in the neck to leave comments.
It does weed out the crack pots and spammers though. :)
Really sorry Peggy!
Thanks Bill! I am kinda fond of these fries too. I'm an onion ring person but when you drizzle bacon drippings and goodies on tatoes they taste pretty good. :)
Hmmm I missed this... I too test drove the Dust. It's a wonderful seasoning. Umm...try it on corn on the cob instead of salt... just sayin'
:{)
The Mad Hunky!
Thanks Rich! I love the Dust too. :)
Will give the corn a try, sounds great.
Thanks again for everything Rich... :)
