Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day too...and hope your heat is back on soon! Shirl from East Texas
Thank you Shirl! My heat isn't back on yet, but I did buy another space heater. lol Last word is...the well will be fixed next week. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :)
Out here we have to worry about pine trees falling into the electric line. Bought a generator to run emergency space heaters in case of power loss. Stay warm girl, it is much colder where you are! Shirl from East Texas
OK, forgive me but as I was researching smokehouses, I came across THE Cowgirl blog...
From TN between Nashville and Chattanooga, raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains in NC, OVER educated, longing for a simpler life. Have 7 acres 15 miles outside "town" married to a Vandy Girl with a PhD (Post Hole Digging...) We canned about 700 quarts this past summer - everything from maters to blackberries. Building a hog pen (at cousins house 1/2 mile away) raised 4 heffers this past year - in the freezer...have 25 laying hens and we try to keep around 50 cornish rock hens.....
although I am extrmely happily married (18 years !) I believe I have fallen in love with you....did I say that outloud?
I have 2000 bd ft of oak lumber and want to pursue 2 things...my very own smokehouse capable of hanging 2 full hogs along with other smaller items and secondly (kinda) interested in a back 40 type sauna/steam house....any solid blueprints that anyone can point me to?
This is the best blog I've ever read! Thanks for keeping it fresh and unique...I have saved in my favorites and will probably be back daily! What a gal!
Country Boy Bob, thank you so much for the kind words! You have started my day with a smile. :)
It sounds like you and Mrs Country Boy Bob are living the good life too. :) I have heard that your area of TN is very pretty. I have been in the Memphis area and loved it.
I do not know of any smokehouse plans online. Sorry! I believe some folks sell their plans. They are really a lot easier to build than some would think. You need to decide how large you want to make it..then go from there.I built a frame first, then covered it with my boards, added the roof.
I would be glad to help in any way I am able. I'm not a carpenter by any stretch of the imagination. lol But my little smokehouse does a great job. :)
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Born and raised in the country, I Love wide open spaces.
Enjoy camping, fishing, hunting, and any form of outdoor cooking, hot, warm and cold smoking. Preserving what I hunt, catch, raise or forage. I enjoy being able to provide food for my table.
I'm thankful for each day and will never take anything for granted.
Thanks for stopping by!
