Smoked Spam
I still make this stuff, just haven't taken pics of the cooks. The block of Spam is usually a last minute "throw on" while something else is cooking on the smoker.
I take one can of Spam...
Score but not cut all the way through..
onto the smoker until it "bloooms"
mix 1/4 cup of brown sugar with as much cayenne pepper as you like...
add some whiskey to a spray bottle.
when the Spam "blooms" I sprinkle with the brown sugar/cayenne mixture and spritz with whiskey to form a nice glaze.
Then let the glaze cook for another 10 to 15 minutes..
keep a knife close by for a self serve finger food snack... :)
I never did care for Spam but smoked this way it's pretty tasty. :)

That looks awesome. I am a fan of fried SPAM. I had never considered smoking it. Thanks!
I tried to smoke spam once but never could get it lit. But seriously, this sounds really good and my wife would even eat it if I didn't tell her what it was of course.
Now that I never would have thought of! But I might try it :)
Great idea in theory, but I can't eat the stuff... have my share! :)
Spam, the Great American Meat/Mystery. Love the stuff. But not too much...
Thanks for the pics Jeanie...
Have a good weekend,
Bill
Thanks Mike! Hope you give it a try sometime. The cayenne brown sugar glaze give it a nice flavor.
Thanks for stopping by! :)
lol Thanks Sunnybrook Farm. I do that too with company...don't tell your Mrs what it is, maybe she'll like it.
Hope you have a great weekend! :)
Becky it's not too bad! The first time I tried it I was leary but it's actually kinda tasty. :)
Thanks!
Nancy it's still spam no matter how ya dress it up. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
lol It is a mystery isn't it Bill! I know I wouldn't eat it if I saw how it's made.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks Bill. :)
If you ever are in Austin, MN, may I suggest a trip to the Spam Museum. It really is fun. But, once you get out of the car, all you smell is canned ham...
When I was a kid my mom served up fried Spam and eggs for breakfast when we were out camping. After we stopped camping as a family I didn't eat Spam for years. Tried it one time for the heck of it and the taste brought back so many memories I was hooked. I'll have to give your smoked Spam a try this weekend. It sounds looks tasty!
:) Bill that sounds interesting! I will be sure to check it out if I get up that way. Can't imagine what all they would have in the museum.
Thanks for the info! :)
Chris thanks! You know... I've never tried fried spam and eggs. I'll try your recipe this weekend too. :)
Glad to hear your family camped when you were a kid too. I have great memories of my childhood campouts.
Must be why I love the outdoors so much now.
Thanks again Chris, hope that smoked spam works out for ya. :)
Chris...you probably won't see this... but if you do, Do you slice and fry the spam and eggs separately or do you cube the spam and add it to scrambled eggs? lol
I have no clue....
Thanks for any help and hope you have a great weekend!
Inspired by you I've made this a few times. I put my dry rub on it and it crusts up real nicely!
You sure make spam look pretty tastey Jeanie. I usually just eat it cold right out of the can or in a sandwich for quick simple feast. lol. I think I'll have to try it your way sometime soon.
That sounds great David! I will give dry rub a try too. Thanks! :)
lol Thanks Mark! I read your message earlier today and gave spam a try right out of the can. It wasn't as bad as I had imagined! :)
I'll give a sandwich a try next time.
Thanks Mark! :)
It still sounds like you did think it was kind of bad though Jeanie. lol. I like to put mustard on it.
Hi Jeanie, I usually slice and fry but cubed, fried and then scrambled maybe with some peppers and onion could work also.
lol Mark! I tried a small slice right out of the can cold... I didn't think to use mustard with it. Next time I will. :)
Thanks!!
Chris Thanks! Yesterday I cubed and fried some with scrambled eggs..added onions and a bit of garlic with butter. It was pretty tasty!
Thanks for introducing me to this way of cooking Spam. I'll make it again for sure. :)
Thanks again Chris!
Cowgirl slice it from top to bottom, fry or grill slap it on a bun makes a great spam burger just add american cheese and fresh mater and Hellsman. Also makes good catfish bait just cut it in chunks and run the hook thru it turn and bring it back up to put the point into the chunk, just be sure to cast gently.

Thanks for stopping by. :)
