Happy New Year

Hope everyone has a safe new year's eve and a great 2012!

I've had camping and fishing on my mind lately, must be spring fever setting in early. :)
Before Christmas I checked out two small lakes someone had told me about...
the first one had plenty of trees, the camp sites looked a bit crowded but I suppose that's to be expected in this area. There aren't many lakes or bodies of water here to choose from. :)

I have not heard how the fishing is but it might be worth a try.

The little lake had a cafe. The first thing I spotted was this old cooker parked behind the building. I had to check it out. lol

The second lake I checked out was covered with birds. (not the best pic, it was taken through the pickup window).

Due to the drought, the little lake was pretty low. There were more trees in the lake than around the shoreline.

The water line (where the logs are)... at one time the lake must have been fairly deep.

I'm not quite convinced it would be a good fishing/camping lake but it would be a great place to spend the afternoon skipping rocks. :)

Thinking back, 2011 was an interesting year... Quite a few highs and lows. Good friend Chris says "The pain and joy let me know I am alive." :)
I'm thankful for my family and friends, and will never take anything for granted.
No matter how bad things seem, they could always be worse. I am thankful for all I have.
Life's too short to sweat the small stuff and as another friend Chris said the other day "Remember, the potential to smile is always here with us." :)

I plan on smiling a LOT in 2012. :)
Hope everyone has a good one!

I think we appreciate the "highs" more when we have some "lows" once in awhile. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Jeanie.
And remember, "Don't sweat the petty stuff, and don't pet the sweaty stuff..." :)

Hey Ms Jeanie,
I see you made it through the snow. You have a happy and blessed New Year. A buddy of mine went fishing on days off at Christmas and slayed the catfish (frankienfish)on Ft Gibson so fishing might not be a bad thing. See ya later and take care.

Wow Chris! I have not been to Ft Gibson but that really sounds like fun! :)
I've been thinking of trying Kaw Lake next summer...or anything on the east side of the state. Depending on where the drought and burn bans are.
Maybe I can check out Ft Gibson too.
There is a little bit of snow still on the ground here, the moisture is really appreciated. If it comes this way again, I'll be sure to send some to ya. :)
Thanks again Chris, Hope you have a great 2012!!

While true, "it can always get worse" it is much more important to remember that it can always get better!
Don't spend too much time worrying about how bad a thing is or how bad it could get. Use your time and energy to think about making each and everything better. This is a much better use of your time and talent.
I know it's not always easy to do, but it is a great goal to have.
As always the best to you and yours, Kevin

My black eyed peas this morning came out of a can. I'll take fortune any way fortune finds me. Found out about a couple of deaths, illnesses and life messes in people I care about over the last few days.

This was an 'interesting' year. It does get better but during the times it takes awhile to get better there is always some strengthening--even when it is scar tissue. And there is always tomorrow....

Unless you buy into the controversy on the Mayan calender. Damn...

Happy New Year Cowgirl

ps Is that one pond deep enough for anything beyond a Hula Popper?

Neanderthal, I hope 2012 is good to ya. Not sure about the Mayan calender thing.. they might have just gotten tired and quit. :)
The pond is 6' in the center...not really big enough for much.
I've thought about stocking with fish but I enjoy going to the lake too much. :)

Thanks!!
