I've been on the lookout for a new dog to help around the farm. I had planned on getting a pup so it would be easier to train...but...was offered this little girl that needed a home.
She's a border collie, which I'm used to. Very active dogs and smart as a whip. They need to keep busy.
It looks like she might have come from a not so nice home... she was a bit shy when I brought her home, but is opening up to me. She stays glued to my side while walking around the farm.
Her soft brown eyes are just begging for reassurance and a kind voice. So far that is just what I'm giving to her... and all the love she will ever need. She is responding quite well and I'm sure we will have many years of watching sunsets together. :)

Nice looking puppy and story - you're lucky to have found each other. We've had several animals come into our lives at the appropriate time with only our having talked about it.
She's a cutie!
Hate to hear about mistreated animals.....at least she'll have a great new home now!!
Does she have a name?
Gene
Thank you Larry!
I hope she works out as well as the animals you have taken in.
So far she is a sweetheart. I think she likes it here and I'm doing my best to make her feel welcome. :)
Jeanie,
She looks like a big sweetie! Thank you for rescuing her. I'm sure both of you will have many great times together.
Thanks Gene!
She acts like someone mistreated her.. when I got a broom out to sweep the shop she ran into a corner and hid.
I had to comfort her. I feel that she trusts me now.
Her name is Sugar. That's the name she came with and she responds to it, so.. I will not change it.
Thanks again Gene. :)
Thank you Scott!
I feel like we will get along great. She loves being hugged and I love hugging her. lol Perfect match. lol :)
Oh, man, how could anyone resist those eyes, and how could anyone be mean to that sweet girl? Here's hoping you two have a long and fruitful partnership.
Thank you JP!
She is just so full of love and is eager to please. I feel lucky to have her here with me. :)
Awww :) Little Sugar Pea! What a cutie! It's terrible when you see how an animal acts because of abuse. I rescued a kitty in January - she showed up on my back porch in 10 inches of snow. She's still skittish if you move too quickly, but she's making a recovery! I'm sure your Sugar will too :)
Thank you Sara! It's great that you rescued that little kitty too. I bet she wouldn't have survived long in weather like that.
Glad to hear she is making a nice recovery.
Thanks Sara! :)
Good for you! Border collies are the best. I had one when I used to run a few cows when I lived in Tx. That dog could 'bout read your mind when it came time to move cattle.
Now that I know the key to your heart is a cold wet nose,I plan on taping a piece of ice to my nose all day long! My name isn't sugar but I will respond to it if you call me.
Thanks for sharing and for taking in a dog that needed a home.
I just love her. What's her name.
:) Aren't they great dogs Rawtalent! I love them.. so smart and eager to please.
I know what you mean about being able to read your mind or sense what you want.
Thank you! :)
Haha Marc! Too funny!
Hope all is going well with you. Haven't seen you around the forum, but I guess I haven't been there much either.
Thanks Marc. :)
Thank you Mrs JP!
Her name is Sugar. :)
I guarantee that the Mrs. tears up a little when she reads your reply about her name (Sugar). We had a Sugar once, and Mrs. JP still misses her a lot. She was a sweet little female Keeshond, and neither of us were prepared for her sudden loss due to health problems.
awww... JP! I hope my new Sugar is as sweet as the one you lost...
Give Mrs JP a hug for me, tell her I'll be taking really good care of this little girl.
So sorry to hear of your loss.
That is so great of you to take in a dog that needs a home instead of buying one. I'm sure the bond will be strong since Sugar will be so appreciative.
Thank you Chris... I think she is going to be a sweetheart. :)
Awwwww, Sugar!! You know I love it and her. I also couldn't think of a nicer person to have a Sugar of her very own. Give her a hug from all of us at the holler.
One of the biggest complaints I have about living in town is not having enough room (or time) to have a dog like that. Our neighbors had one when we moved in and worked with her constantly. Sharp as a tack, friendly and protective of her "pack" without being in any way a "mean" dog.
You're a lucky lady to have found her. How anyone could mistreat an animal like that is beyond me. May they receive the proper returns in some way or form and wonder why...
Take good care of her.
Mrs JP, thank you!
I will give her a hug for you. :)
Creaky, Thank you! She is such and intelligent little girl. I'm looking forward to spending time with her.
Border collies are my favorite...great dogs if you have the time and space. :)
Jeanie that is one fine lookin new buddy you got there. I would say that you both made out on that deal.
Kratzx4
Jerry Thanks! :)
Good to see ya!
Awww..what a sweet girl! She even looks like a Sugar.
Thanks for giving her a 2nd chance and new home, Jeanie! She WILL be your best friend for life now! I bet she'll turn into a great watch dog, too, once she gets comfortable.
Thanks Becky! So far she is doing great. She seems to like it out here. :)
She's a fine looking collie dog Jeanie. Tell'er Traction says hello, would you? lol. Hope she works out well for you Jeanie.
Thanks Mark! I think you probably remember how long I've been looking for a dog. lol
I will tell her that Traction says hello...tell Traction hello for her too. :)
I think she is going to do fine out here. She seems to love having so much space.
Thanks Mark! :)
Beautiful dog, lucky to find aloving home. We found an abandoned border collie many years ago. She also had been abused, was unsure of us. She slept the first 2 months with us, right up against me and insisted on having her nose in my armpit. Odd way of feeling safe, but it worked for her. She is a beloved family pet.
Thank you SusieLee!
Glad to hear your adopted border collie worked out well for you. They are such smart and loyal dog. I really enjoy working with them, they almost read my mind at times. :)
Awesome! She is an adorable girl ~ so glad she found you!
Thank you Heart of a Cowgirl! She has adjusted to her new home. Seems to love all the room out here. :)
