Elk Chili and the UFO

I love elk chili...
but it's not very interesting to post about a pot of anything simmering over a campfire. So I'm throwing in some UFO pics taken at the lake. lol

I had some nice ground elk burger, added onions and let the meat brown over the fire...

Did a little fishing while the meat cooked...

added peppers, chili powder, garlic, tomatoes and seasonings

Gave the chili a stir every so often..

Chili smells SO good while cooking!

Heated a few tortillas and called er good.

I slathered a hot tortilla with butter, sprinkled my elk chili with scallions and smoked cheese..

It might not have been interesting to watch the pot simmer, but the chili was delicious!

On to the UFO. :)
There was an interesting light shining in the western sky... It looked like a flashlight shining down. This was too early for stars and the thing was not moving.

I could see a black spot on one side of the light so I assumed it was a weather balloon..

when I got home, I enlarged the picture to check out the black spot...

the light changed a bit...

and then, the strangest thing... it looked like it had a black bar or black dots running through it horizontally...

What ever it was, it was interesting to watch. It didn't show up again, just that one night.

I felt like a frog, staring at a flashlight, getting ready to be picked up by the scruff of my neck. lol

SO glad the election is over. Life goes on..
Hope everyone is having a great week, thanks for stopping by!

Camp Dutch Oven Game Hens

I brought some of my flavored game hens with me on the last camp out...
Game Hens

Filled the bottom of the dutch oven with cubed potatoes, onions and garlic..

Seasoned the birds with straight salt and pepper, then added a bit of chicken stock to the pot..

I let the potatoes get a head start while burning down the wood for hot coals...

Broke the logs up and placed a few hot coals on top and let her cook.
I rotated both the pot and lid while the birds cooked.

It was a rainy, cool day. Really nice....and the fish were biting. :)

The birds took about 45 minutes. They smelled SO good. :)

I went for a leg and thigh ...

The dutch oven game hens, potatoes and garden tomatoes...

When I picked up the leg, the bone slipped right out. They were tender!

Wish I had a lake in my backyard, so I could replicate the dining experience at home. :) The birds were delicious!

The weather has cooled off here. I'm getting ready to make a pot of bacon and corn chowder for supper. Time for comfort food!

Just two more days til election. I will be glad when it's over. What ever happens, I'm not planning on changing the way I live. :)

Hope everyone has a great day, thanks for stopping by!
