Fall has arrived

Everything is turning brown around here but I'm happy that the cattle and horses are going into winter with full bellies and a bit of pasture grass to keep them happy for awhile.

It's almost time to haul some calves to the sale barn...

The cows are bred, I'm interested in seeing what kind of calves the new bull throws next spring.  He's been a gentle bull and seems to be happy staying in the pasture with the girls.

The horses are doing well...

The eldest of the trio had me worried last winter. I might bring her into the farm pasture closer to the house for the winter so I can keep an eye on her.

The old windmill is clickin' along... maybe it will last through the winter with no problems.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :)

Looking at these pictures....everything looks so serene. I forgot what a trying day that was.  Locked the pickup keys in the truck, had to hoof it home for another set. The danged breeze was so cold. lol
Then the truck blew a hose and over heated....steam was shooting out from under the hood. I hung my head out of the window to see where I was going. When I reached the top of the hill I coasted the rest of the way to the farmhouse in a fog of smoke. lol  Guess I was just happy that I made it home. :)

Glad you made it home. If we lived closer, I'd love to buy a calf.
Good luck with that, too!

Hey Ms. Jeanie,

You are a trooper and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that everything is going to be alright. Things are going great over on this side of the state, gun season is right around the corner so good luck. Take care and God Bless, I'll catch you later.

Pictures can be deceiving huh? You had a rough day but sounds like "big picture" you are as blessed as we are here in the holler and I'm so glad. I hope you got your truck fixed!

Thanks Linda! The calves are pretty cute, fun to watch. It's hard to send them away. :)
Hope you have a great weekend! :)

Chris Thanks! Things are looking better today. :) Sold the calves and they brought in good money. Will get the hose fixed and hope to buy a new shop heater.
I'm getting excited about deer season. :)
Hope you have good luck hunting and have a great weekend! :)

Hope all is well in the holler! Thanks for stopping by. :)

Jeanie,

When does deer season run in your neck of the woods (or range ;)? Do you have separate rifle and bow seasons?

Have a good weekend,

Bill

Just another day on the farm. :)

The rough times help us appreciate the good times, and the little daily challenges, like the truck hose, make us resourceful. Locking the keys in the truck? Well, that's just aggravating!

May the gods smile on your deer hunt this fall.

Thanks Bill! We do have separate seasons. Bow season started the first of October, then muzzle loader is next..then rifle starts next weekend.
I just rifle hunt. I would like to bow hunt some day though.
I'm not a trophy hunter, just hunt for the meat.
Hope you are having a great weekend too!

Well said CW! The rough times keep us on our toes. :)
I'm beginning to think the truck is haunted. While loading something into the back seat (with the door wide open), the lock button went wild. Clicking on and off several times with me just standing back and watching. lol
I'm going to keep an extra key on me or tape one to the outside of the truck.

Hope you have a great weekend, thanks CW!

Gotta just love days like that hey Jeanie. I can remember having a lot of those, but nothing recently. Knock on wood. The critters are looking pretty good.

Hey Mark, seems like I've been having several of those days in a row. lol
Glad to hear all's going well with you. :)
The critters have had a good summer. Hope Traction is doing well! :)
