Life goes on...

While the tornadoes and storms destroy so much of central Oklahoma, the drought continues to destroy the western part of the state.

Downside.....the windmill that waters the pastured livestock broke down due to high winds and the local farm supply store didn't have the needed parts on hand to fix it.
Upside...the windmill repair man had the parts and was willing to work on the windmill on short notice. While there, he replace the leathers which seem to wear out around November when I'm busy with hunting season and company. It should be set for awhile. :)

Another downside...I'm a bit worried that some of the grasses won't be able to survive if it doesn't rain soon.

Another upside... the cactus are blooming, I should be able to harvest cactus pads for cooking and the fruit for jelly. :)

The blooming yucca and sage are a sign that spring is here.  The aroma in the air is sweet and intoxicating. :)

The cows and calves are doing great!  Really nice to see some life on the dry grassland. :)

I'm still a firm believer in the fact that no matter how bad things look, they could always be worse. I am one lucky woman. :)

I was wondering how you were doing out there. Your right about that. It could always be worse. The weather has been weird all over this year. Last year it was drought and this year it wont quit raining or stay warm. Oh well! As long as my garden is alive I am happy!

Agreed! We didn't get hardly any of the rain they forecast; but we also didn't get any of the tornadoes.

Have a wonderful week! ♥

I am adding you to my prayers. You certainly are having a hard spring, but it is refreshing that you can see the good as well as the bad. It is great to see that you have a working windmill, and I am so glad that you were able to get it fixed. Most of the windmills around here are no longer working and just standing in the fields until they rust away.
Here's wishing you a good rainy day :)
Your blogging sister, Connie :)

Praying for rain instead of tornadoes for you all.

I'm a firm believer in the same thing Jeanie. It could be a lot worse. Glad to see the major storms have passed you by so far and hope they stay away forever. And then up here it seems to be raining everyday all most. I really do wish I could make some of it go down your way. The critters are looking good from what I can see though.

Connie thank you so much! There are many old windmills still in use in my area. Some have converted to solar panels but I like the old thing. lol Heck it works great most of the time. :)
Thank you for the prayers too. They must have worked. I got rain last night!! :)

lol Rick I bet your fishing trip was fun, even if you didn't catch anything. I finally went fishing the other night and caught one bass. Funny thing is... I caught it as I was bringing in my line to pack up and leave.
Hope you're having a great week!

Mark, thank you! I'm sure some of this rain came from your way. I also appreciate the cool breeze you sent with it. :)
I imagine your little creek is full. Maybe deep enough for a canoe? :)
Hope all is well with you!

Hey Ms. Jeanie,

I put in an order in for you to get some rain on your side of the state however I will not be held responsible for the other stuff that might come with it, I just ordered the rain. You being a true "OKIE" knows what it means when we say "If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes".I had to make a trip to OKC yesterday and thought about you, keep on smiling I know that everything will be alright. Talk to you later.

Chris thank you for the rain! I appreciate it. You're so right about the weather here, it changes quickly. Yesterday I had to wear a jacket while out feeding animals.
Hope the weather in your area hasn't been too bad. Please keep safe!

David please do! It rained a bit this week, but I could use more if you can spare it. Thank you! :)
