Thank you Food Network and The Cooking Channel!

It's been an interesting week for me!

I threw a couple of racks of beef ribs into the Big Poppa drum...

Carved and bagged a few up then headed to the lake to do some thinking...

I threw a line in but didn't really pay attention to it...

Just sat on the tailgate and enjoyed being out there...

I received a nice email from the Food Network about being a contestant on the Great Food Truck Race show.
The show is hosted by Tyler Florence (whom I think is great).. and involves several teams of 3 (per truck) who travel across the US vending their culinary delights from a food truck. The team who sells the most overall, gets to keep their food truck.
I was very honored to be contacted!
Even though I love cooking, I can't see me inside of a food truck so I politely declined.
I will be looking forward to watching the show to see who the teams are. :)

A kind person from the Cooking Channel also contacted me about the Man Fire Food show hosted by Roger Mooking. I love that show! Roger travels across the US, visiting outdoor cooks like me.
While I can relate more to the Man Fire Food show than the Great Food Truck Race show, they are looking to shoot in the next two weeks. Among other things, there's no way I could wrangle that into my schedule. lol
I politely turned down that offer too.

I want to say a big Thank you to both!!  I am honored to have been given the offers.

BTW... I didn't catch one single fish.

It would have been nice to see you on tv showing people how it is done. Maybe they will give you a better heads up next time.

That is si awesome!
It must send tickles up your spine. I like to watch the food truck show. You know the next food network star isprobably yours for the taking. They dont have a show about country cooking and all the ways you cook are so inspiring because they are obtainable. Many show I watch I would have to order the ingredients online to cook the recipes. Congrats again!

Thanks Bushman! I'd watch a show with you outdoor cooking too!
I agree with you on country cooking. I think there are quite a few people who enjoy simple down home cooking.
Thanks again. :)

I see we're not the only ones not catching any fish.
That's cool they asked you. I was looking forward to having you come to Louisiana and getting some of those smoked ribs. ;-)
Have a great day!

When I saw that Big Poppa's never used stainless drum at Lilly's house last weekend, I was wondering if I could sneak it into my car without him noticing, lol. Very nice set up, probably what I will go with at some point for a competition set up. Easier to move than my Eggs.

I can't see you running a food truck either, far too much stress and too little space.

cowgirl said...

David thanks! It's been interesting around here lately. :)

cowgirl said...

Chris you would have loved the drum! Sterling sent one of the first ones to me, I use it probably with 80% of my cooks. Simply love it!

If you get the offer again, see if they will put a "Mr Wilson" clause in the contract (from Home Improvement - the guy who's face you never saw...) It's part of your mystique at this point!

lol That sounds great to me! Thanks dhamlet. :)
