A Red Glow in the Eastern Sky

The weather has been great the last couple of weeks. It's rained a bit and the temperature has stayed below 90 for the most part.  The pastures are green and there are even a few wild flowers scattered about this year.
I've been taking full advantage of it.  :)

It's odd to see a red glow to the east at sunset, but it was really pretty. :)

I could hear the distant thunder and frogs croaking in the little water hole near the plum thickets..

It was a beautiful evening. :)

A few days later another thunderstorm came through. The trees whipped around with the wind...

The sky took on an eerie shade of orange as the sun set to the west....

I stepped out the back door with my camera and got pelted with small hail balls. lol  I don't recommend doing that. :)

I can't remember seeing a sky so orange before. It was pretty amazing. :)

The earlier photos remind me that the colors of Charles M. Russell's paintings were, indeed, so very real. Lovely.

That was a fascinating color of sky. I've seen an orange sky like that once on the way from Austin to Shreveport on U.S. 79. I stopped the truck and took some pictures it was so unusual and beautiful. Now I have to hunt them up.
Love your blog. I'm going to be a copycat and build a smoker like yours but set it up both for cold smoking and to use it for smoking briskets, ribs, and pulled pork.

I write a blog about a piece of land we bought in Milam county. If you're interested: grueneweide.blogspot.com (gruene weide is "green pasture" in German.)

When the sky looks like that here, I look for cover. It usually is not good.
Glad you got through the weather safely!

Thanks Mrs JP! I enjoy watching storms roll in too. They are so powerful but beautiful in their own way. :)
Hope you are keeping safe this storm season!

Wow that sky was really pretty. I can not believe that you have hit 90 degree weather already. We are still in the mid to high end 70s and we have had a few days in the low 80's nothing big. The evenings dip to the 40's. Hay while I am thinking about it. Do you get fire flies. I remember when I was a kid growing up in Kansas and Missouri we got them.

Hi Willie, good to see ya!
It's getting hot here already. Seems like the weather is off by a month.

There are fireflies around here. I don't see many on the farm but they are at the lakes where I camp and fish. I love them. :)

Hope all is going well with you. I am sure you're probably keeping busy!
Thanks Willie!

Kinda nice to see all the greeness out your way Jeanie. Interesting and mysterious skys. Not sure if that is good or not.

It was that meteor that cause the orange glow and thunder! Okay, maybe not the hail. lol.
