Just a windy day

The horses and cows are doing well this winter in spite of the shortage of grass and dry conditions.

The strong winds have been keeping the windmill busy and the little pond full....

Some of the water hits the tank as the wind whips it around....

For some reason I was really hungry that day. I think leaning into the strong wind all afternoon wore me out.
I came home, put a few potatoes on the stove to boil and then chickenfried a piece of round steak. I smooshed the tatoes and made some skillet gravy with the pan drippings...

I thought about making a veggie side dish or a salad, but knew I would be too full to eat them.
:)

So I settled for meat-n-tatoes.

It actually tasted pretty good. I need to cook on the stove more often. :)

Nice picture of some hay-burners. There's just something about wind that I don't like. It cuts through you. I can work in the rain, cold, snow, heat, but the wind just makes me grumpy.
Now that's down home comfort food right there jeanie. I think it's funny you didn't have time for the greens. ;-) Nice post. I wish I could figure out how to make country gravy from drippings. My mom can do it in her sleep, my sister has the gift, but me.....loser-ville. Mmmmm, mmmm.

Being outside makes me hungry too. Of course, reading your blog has the same affect!

Thanks Joe! :)
I agree about the wind.. it just wears a person down. Somedays I think it would blow me away if I didn't keep heavy things in my pockets. lol
I knew I couldn't eat any greens if was going to eat that steak and tatoes... and they looked sooo good I couldn't think of anything else anyway. lol
Hope your Mom or Sis show you how to make that gravy! :)

Thanks again Joe, good to see ya!

They have tried over and over. I even wrote down a scientific recipe about how to make a rue; still can't get it right. It's magic I say! Magic!

When you've got chicken fried steak, taters and gravy, you don't want that other stuff taking up valuable stomach room.

That looks great Jeanie. I am in Asia right now for work craving 1 American style meal. That steak would be #1 on my list. And really, who needs veggies with that? ;)

I hear 'ya! Never waste calories on veggies when you can have gravy instead. Plus, wind is very tiring and you have to take care of yourself :)
