Dizzy Pig Beef Fajitas on my Fancy Little Cooker...

I recieved some sample dry rubs from the kind folks at the Dizzy Pig Dry Rub Company (Thank you!) recently and had the chance to try one this weekend.

I drizzle olive oil on a flat iron steak and seasoned with Dizzy's "Raising the Steaks" dry rub for my first Dizzy Pig taste test. :)

Started my skillet of onions and peppers first... then added the seasoned steak.

It was a nice afternoon..

Heated a few tortillas...

I decided to skip the pico and salsa so I could get a good taste of the dry rub...

It was great! The meat needed no other seasoning.

I'm looking forward to trying the other Dizzy Pig samples.
If the weather cooperates I'll try some this week.
....then again.... I got my fishing license today.. hmmmm...if the weather is nice that will be a tough decision. I guess a fishergirl needs to eat too. :)

Good luck wetting the line, too! ;-)

As a black smith, and seeing how much you enjoy fire, I have to ask: Do you have a Coal forge and Anvil? Lets see the black smith shop!

Shoot Jim, I didn't know you were a blacksmith! That's great! I would love to have a blacksmith shop... would need lessons to figure out what to do but it would be interesting.
Thanks Jim...

Thanks Kirby! It was made by a friend and it was a gift. He thought it would be handy to take camping. I like it a lot but it's a bit heavy . :)

Jeanie,

That looks great. Dizzy Pig makes a good product,

If you have some Pineapple Head, give it a spin on some vanilla ice cream. You'll love it...

Thanks,

Bill

Well Jeanie it is easy. You would need two things to get started. A forge which you can easily build from a brake drum, or purchase from Buffalo Forge a fire pot. You will need an anvil. Do not go to the web retailers because you can usually find a good 75 to 100 lb anvil at $1.00/lb or less at a farm sale or yard sale. You will need a 3 lb hammer and some Bitumonus (sp) coal and some mild steel and you are ready to go. Google ABANA and you will find others in your area.

I like Raising the Steaks. My favorite of theirs would be either Tsunami Spin or Jamaican Firewalk.

Jeanie, I love the Dizzy Pig rubs. Their Redeye Express (with coffee in it) is great on burgers and meatloaf. I've also made chicken wings with their Jamaican Firewalk rub. Nice heat to it. I know you like venison. You should check out Oakridge BBQ rubs. You can order them online. They have an excellent venison rub and some other great rubs. -Nick
