Surf-n-Turf on the Campfire

More campfire cooking...
It's a given that while camping... one night is going to be ribeye night. If I'm lucky enough to find crab legs, I throw them on the fire too. :)

I get the fire going first.. it takes about 45 minutes depending on how many hot coals I need..

then split the tatoes, add a slice of onion, bacon, salt, pepper and butter...

The potatoes go on first, then the skillet of mushrooms with onion and garlic, S&P. Next the garlic butter...

When the tatoes are tender I move them to the side, move the shrooms and garlic butter to the side, add a squeeze of fresh lemon to the butter, add seasoned ribeyes. Then the crab legs go on the low heat side of the fire.

Last I add some asparagus drizzled with oil and seasoned with kosher salt and cracked black pepper.

The grilled asparagus, bacon potatoes, grilled ribeye with shrooms, smokey crab legs.....and I cut down a plastic cup to hold my garlic butter..

Gotta be my favorite campfire food..... :)

I'm ready to go again!!

The food looks great (as always) but I'm digging the fire pit and the cooking grid!

A meal fit for a BBQ / Grilling Queen! What I love most about your posts is that they always take me to a new place where my concepts of outdoor cooking are concerned!

I can't imagine cooking over that fire in the heat you folks are having but it looks like two other lucky people are glad you're willing. The meal looks incredible - as most of yours do. How bout I park our motor home in that campground, go buy a bunch of groceries and you do the cooking.

David Thanks! I really get a lot of use out of that grate.. it works so well on most firepits.
Hope you're having a nice week!

Thanks so much Kevin! I think anything cooked indoors or on a grill can be cooked over a campfire. :)

That's it!!! No Mas, No Mas!! You are the NO. 1 campfire chef in my book. I would love to buy a Cowgirl's Campfire Cooking cookbook. You have more than enough material and it would be a neat little project. You are truly an inspiration to a lot of folks.

Now that I just had my 2nd cup of coffee this fine Guam morning, I am thinking about what to cook.

Thanks again Cowgirl. Give my best to your friend. Hope he's doing better. You all are still in our prayers....
