Purple fingers, day dreaming and bloomin' yucca

I know it doesn't sound pleasant... but it's a tell tale sign when I see little purple dots on the small sidewalk in front of my house.
It means the mulberries are ripe and the birds are beating me to them. :)

My favorite mulberry tree is a short walk from my front porch.

I'm able to gently pull a limb down to reach the little purple berries.

This is one of my favorite places. I snack on the sweet berries and watch the sky darken to the east while the sun sets behind me.

I think about friends in the east..... so far away. I day dream about what it would be like to grow wings and fly east to see them. :) I wonder if they are up listening to music, or sleeping and dreaming of what the next day will bring.
(yeah I'm a dork :))

The mulberries turn my fingers purple...

I plop my little batch of berries on a fence post so I can admire the blooms on a yucca plant..

Two things come to mind...
What kind of woman would day dream of sprouting wings to visit a friend in the east... :)
and what kind of woman would plop berries on a dirty fence post, wipe her purple sticky hands on the hind end of her cut off jean shorts... just to admire a bloomin' yucca?

I think I'm a country girl with big dreams. :)

Jeanie, those look really nice, beautiful deep purple color. Our raspberry is starting to have its first fruit reddening. No idea what variety, the raspberries aren't the best tasting ones, but eatible. That tree is quite large, too large to be netted, I guess.

If you ever grow wings, and fly-by, I better make sure to have some babywipes on hand, lol.

Ah Jeanie, I forgot to sign the post again;-).

Cheers,

donald

P.s. They aren't ripe yet, but yesterday I noticed the first color on some of them. There are many varieties, some ripe earlie or taste better than others.

Your Mulberries also come in many varieties including Hybrids, I am reading, so I guess some will taste better than others, these look yummie.

Thank you Donald! I wasn't sure if that was you or not. Thanks for letting me know. :)
There are some really sweet while mulberries at a friend's farm.. I love those, they are fairly large and plump too.
I think I could live on wild berries during the summer. :)
Thanks again Donald!

David you might be right! I might be turning into a romantic! My head seems to be in the clouds lately. :)
Glad the stains brought back memories for you. Thanks David! :)

Our local park has mulberry trees, but I'd have to fight off the peacocks just to get to them. Dang peacocks.

Well if you're a dork, them I'm a double dork. I don't dream about growing wings, but I do have some pretty unrealistic daydreams at times. Maybe it's normal, I hope. Cool berries Jeanie, can't say I've ever seen those around here before.

My in-laws have several mulberry trees on their place in Muskogee and last year we finally harvested some for the first time and made a batch of mulberry jam. It was the best jam I've ever had...now it's an annual tradition. Mmmm. Mm.

Dang peacocks! lol Thanks for the laugh Kirby! :)

Mark I'm glad to hear I'm not the only dork who day dreams! :)

Cowgirl, like I said the last time, I can almost smell the brush. I miss that smell. Early in the morning, tracking deer, looking for sign. Yeah, you are bringing all that back to me. Thanks so much.

If I were 20 years younger I'd be beaten it to OK to meet you. You sound like a little bit of heaven in blue jeans. I can't believe none of those cowboys in OK hasn't snagged your heart yet. I love to read your post. And I have cooked your recipes often. You always bring a little sunshine to my day.

Marty

Marty that is very kind of you to say. Thank you!
I am glad you are able to use my recipes too. You've made my day. :)
Hope all is going well for you!

I agree with Marty and Paul. As I started reading through your blog, I was thinking you're my new hero. My wife and I are about to buy a few acres in NE OK, and I've added several new ideas of things we'd like to try from your blog, like pit-roasting a whole hog, raising freshwater shrimp, etc. Great blog! Thanks.

Thanks so much Basil, you are very kind. I am happy for you and your Mrs in finding some land. The NE part of Oklahoma is pretty too.
Let me know if you have any questions when starting your projects! :)
Thanks again...
