My 4th of July weekend... the condensed version

Just some pictures from my 4th of July weekend..

My January snowballs were a bit hit.... and yes they hurt! I found out the hard way... several times! :)

went to a fish fry....

This was not my plate. I stood by the hot fish table and snacked. :)

Everything looked great though..potato salad, slaw, beans, cheesy squash casserole.... even had strawberry shortcake for dessert.

I smoked some venison summer sausage....

also smoked some cayenne/brown sugar/whiskey spam....

went fishing...

I'm still the best stick fisherwoman this side of the Mississippi. :)

This one put up quite a struggle!

Smoked/grilled burgers...

The last surviving snowball with a sparkler....

I enjoyed the weekend...

found out that I can still duck pretty well

I need to work on my snowball throwing though

Catching sticks while fishing isn't so bad.. it's nice just being out there. :)

Food tastes best over the 4th of July weekend

The biggest lesson I learned over the weekend... I'm not a cigar smoker. They are best used to light fireworks. :)

Can't wait til next year!

Wow, that sounds like a great weekend. Fishing is great no matter what you catch. I like the last sparkler idea. I think I remember you doing this last year...it's an annual tradition,,,yes?

What is it they say? "A bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work."

So is there a limit on sticks in Oklahoma, or is it more of a catch and release kind of place?

Jeanie
It looks like you had fun over the 4th. Hey! and a good looking "stick fish" too. :)
You have to cook them over very low heat or they go up in smoke. lol
It's near 100 here, so i'm playing on the computer and trying to stay out of the direct heat.....

Happy Trails
Rick

Thank you Mrs JP! I do save snowballs every winter for the 4th.. I'm not really that dangerous with them..my throwing isn't all that great. lol

lol Kirby, I try to catch and release.. but not back in the water. I don't want to catch the same ones over and over. lol
