One of my favorite places to play...

I was able to get out this weekend to check on the morel mushrooms...
This is my favorite spot to hang out.
I deer hunt here in the fall, mushroom hunt in the spring, gather wild grapes and sand hill plums in the summer.
Sometimes I just come down here to play in the stream. :)

I drive as far as I can into the trees...

and find a nice path to follow...

the smell of the sand hill plum blossom is intoxicating... they are so sweet. :)

I get distracted by the creek....

I have to kick off my shoes and chase minnows. :)

I did find a few morels. They are not very big yet which means the season is just beginning...

I did find enough for a nice meal.

It was a good day. I enjoyed the hike. :)

Hey, they look like sponges on top, that's neat. I bet you could lose track of time out there and before long you could be enjoying the moon too!!! :O)

Mrs JP, they do look like a sponge. :)
lol It is easy to lose yourself out there. I usually take a picnic with me and spend the day.
...and yes I've stayed late enough to enjoy that darned moon. lol

Thanks Mrs JP!

Looks like a super spot on hot day and good score on the morels. I planted some, but no activity yet - they are apparrently very difficult to domesticate so I'll be surprised if I get any.

Hey Rocco, how have you been?
The shrooms are just getting started here. Hope to find more in a day or two.
Good luck to you if you go hunting!

So thats where you find all your morels. Looks like a nice place to hang out Jeanie. What will the mimmows be when they grow up? Catfish?

Mark, I really like it out there. I went out again this evening and found a few more mushrooms.. mainly enjoyed the hike and watching the sun set.
The minnows won't get any bigger, they are used for catfish bait. :)

I'm glad you're feeling better and up to going shroom hunting. When they start coming in strong in a few weeks, I know what you can do with the extras you can't consume... heh heh heh.

Once again your post is an intoxicating trip through country living.

Thank you Mark! I'm feeling so much better. :)
It felt great to get out for a hike too. I found a few more shrooms Saturday and then went fishing on Sunday.
I'll keep you in mind if I get overrun with them. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
