Two weeks.....

It's been two weeks since the gas well was shut down for repairs.
I'm keeping warm with my space heater, blankets and long johns.
I'm able to take hot showers at a friend's house.
I have plenty of outdoor cooking equipment and a hot plate for inside.

Things aren't bad at all!

I still might look into getting a cow patty burner for future use. :)

I would say you could come stay with me up here but I don't think you would like it much more than what you have going down there. The outside air temp here has been below zero at least part of every day for about two weeks up here. The lowest I saw was - 27F but some areas to the north saw -37F. The only good thing is that we now have enough ice on the lakes to drive out to our ice fishing houses! I think you would enjoy the ice fishing festivities (we tend to make it a social event WITH fishing). People here even look at us a little funny when we are grilling steaks outside next to the fish house....
Try to keep warm..we're pulling for you!

Thats a long time without heat Jeanie, hopefully they get it all up and running soon for ya. Are they out there working on it? Is there really a cow patty burner on the market? That would be quite a job following cows around with a gunnysack all day. lol. Oh, your talking about burning the dry aged ones probably. Stay warm Jeanie.

Bummer. What a terrible time to be without heat and for two weeks - yuck.

I'm just not sure how that would work Rocco, but thanks for the idea!

Dave, it does sound pretty cold up there. :) I bet I'd like the ice fishing part though...sounds like fun.
Hope you and family have a great 2010!
Thanks Dave!

Bud, that's a kind offer too...thanks! Sounds like you are getting some pretty cold weather too. I didn't know it got that cold in the south. :)
Keep warm!

Hey Mark, It's not that bad, I think I was spoiled having hot water and heat. lol Things just take longer to do than they used to.
They worked on the well Monday but have not been back since. The rig is still there though.
lol I've not heard of a cow patty burner but the old timers used to burn the dried patties.
Maybe I should buy more cattle and have a never ending supply. :)
I'm surrounded by ranch land though, I bet there's a ton of dried patties just waiting for me. lol
Hope you are keeping warm too Mark!

Big Dude, I'm getting used to it now. Hopefully they will have it back up and running in a week or two.
Hope you are keeping warm!

I have little doubt this is a bump in the road for you.I always use my patton barn heater in the house, saves on propane! I will telepath some of the 70 degree weather we are having. Good luck Jeanie! max

Hey Max, good to see ya. I'd be happy to see some of that 70 degree weather you are having. lol

This isn't too bad, I'm warm and clean and not going hungry. :)

Thanks Max!

It's cold in Upstate NY too.your cow patty burner is a good idea, but it would be simpler to eliminate the cow and just burn the hay! LOL.
Em.........

lol That would be simpler but then I'd miss out on the occasional angus burger or brisket. :)
