Trip to town

I enjoy the drive to town....the pasture grasses are brown but there are a few green yuccas scattered around.

If you look really close, there are the remains of an old house to the right side of the trees. (little dark spot almost in the middle of the pic)

I wonder what made the family decide to settle there..... I wonder if they raised a house full of children.

a closer look at the house.

you can see some gas wells on the hill.

They probably sat outside at night enjoying the stars and sky like I do now. :)

You and I are alot alike... maybe you are my long lost sister. I often sit outside and wonder what the land looked liked 150yrs ago and even before whites came and took over what was going on im my neck of the woods. When I see an old barn, I wonder if the kids played in the loft like I used to when I visited my cousins.

It is beautiful out where you live, you are truely out in God's country for sure. I don't know what I like better in your blogs, your amazing food or the amazing scenery. Keep on keeping on Cowgirl!

Your mind wonders while your body wanders, I love that.

Every time I pass a dilapidated barn or farm house, I entertain the same thoughts. I guess that comes from the summers at my grandparent's farm. On the main plot, they had two abandoned houses (one was the former family home and the other a farm hand's) and one of the 3 barns used to have a quarters attached but burned down. I used to sneak into the still standing homes and my imagination ran wild as I lurked about.

You brought back a flood of memories tonight, J.

Wow, beautiful country out there. How could you not enjoy the sun, moon (like I know you do), and stars with so much sky? Nice shot of the creek.

Rocco, there's a lot of elbow room out here. :)

TJ, Thank you! Wonder if we are related. Sounds like we had the same upbringing. :)
It's easy to imagine what things were like 150 years ago when I set out on horseback. It's so desolate but pretty.

I am glad you had a nice trip into town, but I can't imagine the scenery in town was as nice as the drive into town.
I love the wonderful cerulean blue sky you can only get in winter light. You have captured it beautifully.
I also have to say the pecan rubbed fish and the burger looked great! Course your buddy takes the cool and cute prize.

Hey Marc, Thanks! I was just getting ready to shoot you an e-mail. Got your last one about the Q competitions. I bet you could win all of those. :)
Thanks Marc!

Beautiful country. Your snaps remind me of the covers of Annie Proulx's "Wyoming Stories."

Thank you Kirby! I'm not familiar with Annie Proulx but will check for the books. :)
