My dad raised hogs for a while and that's the only part of his operation that I just couldn't help with. I mean they made good chops and sausage and all that but the smell permeated clothing, hair and I just couldn't take it. After all, I was in high school.
So does Spot have friends? If not, the smell's probably not bad!

lol Mrs JP, they are definately down wind of my house. I keep the pig pens far enough away that they are not a problem.
I do have to keep an eye on the little ones though, being that far away from the activity coyotes can be a problem.

It's hard to tell his size from the pictures, but he looks like he is almost big enough to butcher!
we usually butcher ours when they will dress around 200 we sell our pork at a local farmers market so some times we butcher when we are low on pork. LOL...

Upstate, he's almost ready for the freezer. :)
I usually shoot for 225lbs but he's not going to be quite that big. Probably around 200.
I know what you mean, it's nice having fresh pork on hand when it's needed.
