Fall is in the air...

The pasture grasses are turning brown.
The air is cooling down quickly in the evening.
The local dove have moved south for the winter.

The days are getting shorter.....

The red ants are hungry.... and angry....

especially when you stand on their hill while taking pictures.....

ouch! I didn't see them when I got out of the pickup to snap that last shot. :)

Hey Mr S!
I bet the countryside is really getting pretty in your part of the country. The leaves on the cottonwood trees are just starting to change colors here.
Deer season is right around the corner.
I'd love to see your pics if you get the time to send them.. thanks!!

jeannie, nice pics!it looks so beautiful where you live. You seem to be a lover of nature as i am. I think you might like this poem written by my cousin Dave who passed away from dehydration during a survival course in Utah a few years back. It made national news and this poem is now engraved onto a sign at an overlook near where he passed. its titled "wind chimes":“To a life that accepts Nature’s hand in sculpting an individual expression. Nothing is exempt. From the mellifluous rhythm and tone of the wind chime, to the transitional form of the cloud. Nothing exists alone. All things thrive and whither in confluence with one another. So it is; the paradox of our divinity”. ~ Dave Buschow

Dang ants, right when ya let your guard down they are there to bite ya in the ....I am awful sorry your dove have flown away already. Even with everybody out shooting them right now they are still everywhere around here. But, I must be getting old. I don;t even feel like messing with them this year. Great pictures though as always on your end. Seems like though, in Autumn, thats when the best sunset pictures are taking. Well, we better enjoy it. Won't be long before we are battling howling wind, real cold, snow and maybe ice just to get a round bale or two out to the animals when its either still dark or dark creeping in again. All the time worried something is going to happen to the well pump or something else to take us out of our warm comfy humble abode. Thats the day we start a cursing and say why can't we have 100 degrees and a drought. Wait a minute, didn't some of us have that for real with a lot of brush fires. Well, thats not good, but you know we will all be a cussing the weather anyhow soon enough. You take care.

lol David, those darned ants are pretty mean!
I'm glad to hear you still have dove in your area, that means the big Kansas dove north of me might head this way. :) There are only a few more days of dove season left down here, not sure if I will make it out again or not.
Now that you mention it, I remember the nice snow storm I had last winter...and I remember being without heat for several weeks. lol

Wonder what winter will bring this year. I'm not going to complain no matter what comes my way. lol I know it could always be worse!

Good to see ya David, you take care too.

You know I love photography (http://aninstantoutoftime.blogspot.com/)

So I have to say that the second and third pictures are worth many ant bites. WONDERFUL shots and I love the saturation of the color. You rock.

I wish I knew more about photography. My camera is just a little Kodak Easy Share.
It would be nice to know how to take proper pics.
